Curls Mata

Curls Mata is an exciting new Australian haircare brand aiming to revolutionise styling for coarse, curly hair via a new-to-market curl styling and conditioning cream. With a goal of becoming the first brand in Australia to launch a combined product catering specifically to ethnic curls, that functions as both a leave-in conditioner and defining cream, the brand is looking to develop a unique and impactful brand identity, packaging and website that will bring this innovative new product to life.

Our goal is to provide a solid visual foundation backed by strategy, that aligns the brand with its ideal audience and helps it to stand out from its competitors, both on the shelf and online. We also want to create a visual identity that is sufficiently flexible to grow with the brand, immediately recognisable for brand recognition and bold enough to carve out its own niche within the haircare sector.

Brand Strategy & Identity

Starting with the essential foundations of your brand, we’ll dive deep into your story, positioning, industry competitors and target audience, and how all of these elements combine to create a brand that is unique to you and attracts your ideal people.

We’ll then create a beautiful, timeless identity founded in strategy, that goes beyond trends and carves out a niche in your industry, telling your own unique story while being firmly aligned with your dream customers and what they’re searching for.

Packaging Design

Packaging is an essential element in telling your brand’s unique story, and helps to create that exceptional experience that has customers buying from you again and again.

Beginning with market research of your competitors and analysis of how we can make your product(s) stand out on the shelf, through to detailed design concepts and overseeing prototyping and production, we aim to be your partner throughout the process to ensure your packaging is even better than you imagined.

Deliverables

2 detailed packaging concepts including conceptual sketches of product container.

Print-ready artwork (where applicable).

Packaging guideline document outlining materials, finishes, pantone colours etc that can be sent to suppliers for future reordering.

Supplier sourcing and project management where we will find the best supplier for your specific needs and liaise with them during prototyping and final production.

Not Included

Please note that all production costs including but not limited to prototyping, proofing, cutter guide creation and final manufacture are not included. These are usually billed direct to the client by the chosen supplier where applicable. We will always discuss these costs with you beforehand.

Shopify & Email

A bespoke, beautiful and strategically designed online presence that shows off your brand to its full potential and positions you for maximum growth. During this 8 week container, we will work in close partnership with you to get a thorough overview of your individual goals before creating an online home that your brand can be proud of and that your customers will love.

Based on the most reliable ecommerce platform, Shopify, our websites are based on premium themes to ensure compatibility with the most popular and widely used apps, and customised so that they are completely bespoke and tailored to your individual requirements. This helps us to achieve an optimum balance of custom design and reliability, and positions your brand for maximum growth with Shopify's built-in functionality.

The final step is to integrate your website with popular email marketing software such as Klaviyo (or other if preferred), creating the essential email flows to welcome and retain your customers, and inspire them to make another purchase!

Deliverables

2 visual concepts (homepage only) outlining look and feel

1 fully developed concept shown as a complete collection of wireframes for approval and sign-off before build commences

Premium theme

Upto 15 reusable page templates - including homepage, about page, collection page, product page(s), blog index, blog article, T&Cs, privacy policy, shipping, FAQs and any other additional pages that you need.

App integration - e.g. reviews, wishlist, back in stock notifications, and / or other.

Backend setup session - payments, markets, multi-currency, shipping fees, sales channels, locations etc.

Essential Klaviyo flows - Abandoned cart, abandoned browse, review request and welcome sequence, plus template for manual campaign emails.

Not Included

Please note that you will need to sign up for a paid Shopify plan prior to us transferring site ownership to you and / or launch. Ongoing costs relating to your Shopify plan and any app fees are the client's responsibility upon launch.

Payment Plans

We are very happy to arrange a payment plan with you to split the cost of your project. These will consist of monthly payments for the duration of your project. If you would like to discuss a longer option just let Vicky know when you email us.

Frequently Asked Questions

I need help with copy writing, is this something you can do?

We don't do copywriting ourselves, however we have worked with some amazing copywriters that we could recommend. We have worked alongside them on previous projects and are able to integrate their process and schedule seamlessly into your project as an additional member of the team.

Can you help with Social Media?

We don't provide social media management services at this time, however all of our brand identity projects include a full suite of social media templates (for stories and feed posts) that are provided in Canva for ease of use. These allow for easy editing and updating so that you have a full toolkit available either for yourself or to pass over to a social media manager / agency.

I need help with organising production of my packaging!

No problem! We're more than happy to find a supplier that suits you and liaise with them during prototyping and production to ensure the end result is perfect.

I'm new to this, is there anything I need to think of?

This does typically depend on your product(s) but as a guide, if you're working on skincare, haircare or other body products we would recommend researching any testing, certifications and legal requirements, such as product stability tests in your finalised container. Similarly food items will have guidelines that need to be adhered to, as will electronic products or products using chemicals. If you're unsure we would recommend consulting expert advice within your industry.

Are we able to arrange payment plans?

Of course! We want to make your project as flexible as possible for you. Typically our payment plans are split evenly over the duration of your project, with a deposit paid before work begins and monthly payments thereafter. If you would like to arrange a payment plan over a longer period, such as 6 months, just ask us :)

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfers in AUD, GBP and EUR, and card payments via Stripe.

How long will the process take?

This depends on your deliverables, but generally our branding projects take 6-8 weeks, websites about the same (depending on complexity) and packaging 2-3 months from conception through to manufacture - This is very dependent on the complexity of your packaging needs however and on your chosen factory's timeline.

Is there any flexibility with pricing?

While we have structured our pricing according to the time and expertise involved, we're always open to a discussion with you! Sometimes we might be able to reduce deliverables to fit your budget or come to a solution involving a special payment plan. Please don't hesitate to ask us if you're concerned or unsure!
